Yes, housing is subsidized. Rent is taken from your paycheck twice per month..

If my request cannot be accommodated, does the hospital provide me with some assistance in finding housing?  
The Real Estate Office may be able to make some recommendations, but there are no guarantees of placement.

Is there Parking? 
Parking is available at most locations. For specifics about free parking and vouchers at your facility, please contact your TPA.

Contact your TPA for details on how to register. For Lenox Hill Hospital residents and fellows, contact the Medical Education Office. Please note there may be a fee for some courses.

What is the process for applying for H-1B, J-1 visa, etc? 
Please contact Marie Toto, Manager Office of Academic Affairs, for assistance. For Staten Island University Hospital Residents/Fellows, please submit your Visa information to your Program Directors or Amy Durante in the Department of Academic Affairs. For Lenox Hill please reach out to Yanick Joseph.

How much vacation time are residents and fellows entitled to? 
Residents and fellows receive 20 days of vacation. You can review benefits information in the Working Here section of this website.

What can I expect from Orientation?
All new residents will participate in a virtual orientation geared to welcome and inspire you to the organization, and convey the health system’s mission, vision, core values and expectations. You’ll hear from senior leadership and learn what it means to practice medicine here.

When is Orientation?
The virtual Resident and Fellows Orientation is a required event that will welcome you to the organization, allow you to engage with leadership, and get your questions answered.

You will receive a formal notice/email from the Office of Academic Affairs in the coming weeks.
Will I receive a schedule or summary of events happening prior to the start date?

Resident and Fellow Forum
What is the Residents and Fellows Forum (RFF)?
Originally founded during the academic year of 2007 – 2008, the Residents and Fellows Forum (RFF) represents the interests of the over 1,500 physician trainees at Northwell Health and the Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell. It was developed out of a need to assist Graduate Medical Education Committee and Office of fAcademic Affairs/Medical Education Office to implement various programs and policies, with the hopes of improving residents’ and fellows’ patient care, education, and work environment. The RFF also functions as a liaison between administration, staff, and residents and fellows to resolve active issues and as a forum for discussing topics that will enhance the quality of life. Forum committee members attend monthly meetings of the GMEC, who then reports to the Medical Board and the Dean and Chief Academic Officer of Northwell Health and works to help resolve any issues pertinent to resident and fellow education and work/living environment.

Is there an online community for the RFF?
The RFF invites you to join their Facebook Group. Here you can share stories, advice, support and encouragement to one another. You can also post all local information like meetings, events, housing tips and tricks, questions about local places, etc.
